At Cathedral on the Hill, we have a simple vision: to see people come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their Christian faith. Since 2008, we've been helping spread God's good news here in the DMV area and throughout the world, and we pray that God will continue to use our congregation.
The vision of our church has been strategically coupled into what we call mantras. A mantra is a word of phrase used repetitiously for memorization and meditation. These mantras are recited at the end of every worship service, as a means for memorization of our vision. And the Mission and Vision of NGMC is founded on five mantras. These mantras are universal principles that every church should use. And those five purposes are:
- Fellowship (Psalm 133:1-3; Hebrews 10:25)
- Worship (John 4:24; John 9:31)
- Ministry (Ephesians 4:12; Colossians 4:17)
- Discipleship (Matthew 16:24; Act 2:42)
- Evangelism (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8)
These same five purposes have been integrated into the calling scripture of our church. The calling scripture of NGMC is found in 1 Samuel 10:5-7:
1 Samuel 10:5-7 (NLT)
“When you arrive at Gibeah of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is located, you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the place of worship. They will be playing a harp, a tambourine, a flute, and a lyre, and they will be prophesying. At that time the Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person. After these signs take place, do what must be done, for God is with you.
COTH’s mission is to operate in the continuance of the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ. As yielded conduits and ambassadors of God’s kingdom, we diligently seek to abolish sociological, economical, educational and spiritual disenfranchisements within our local communities and abroad.
We charge ourselves that Cathedral on the Hill and all its affiliate ministries, must operate as a loving refuge flowing with God’s grace, divine compassion, inspiration and empowerment unto all that we may cover, engage and encounter.
